Foster a culture of body safety awareness

The Truth Over Secrets mission starts with a conversation and ongoing education.

Truth Over Secrets’ mission is to equip families, educators, and counselors with the tools they need to teach children how to speak up and create safe spaces where every child's voice is heard and their body is protected.

Truth Over Secrets Mission

Fostering a Culture of Body Safety, One Conversation at a Time

Child sexual abuse is a difficult subject, yet it is critical that we address it head-on. Our mission at Truth Over Secrets is built on a few core principles:

  • Early, honest, and age-appropriate education about boundaries, bodily autonomy, and safe vs. unsafe secrets can equip children with the confidence to speak up and seek support.

  • We teach children that their voices matter. They have a right to feel safe, and trusted adults will listen to them without judgment or blame. Children need to know the safe adults in their life can handle their truth.

  • We work with child advocacy centers, social workers, counselors, schools, churches, and families to provide them with the resources and knowledge needed to create a safe environment for every child. We are passionate about raising awareness, training and building a community where truth is prioritized over secrets.

A Children's Book About Secrets and Safety

What if one story could open the door to safety?

Secrets is a powerful, faith-based children’s book about a thirteen-year-old girl who learns that her safety is more important than keeping harmful secrets. Written by survivor, advocate, and Darkness to Light facilitator Wendy Spruill, this gentle, age-appropriate story helps kids understand the difference between safe and unsafe secrets and encourages them to speak up when something feels wrong. It’s a vital resource for families, schools, churches, and child advocacy centers looking to empower children and start the hard conversations early.
